Year 8 receive one fourty-five minute lesson per week. Each lesson includes:
- a lesson plan
- a PowerPoint presentation
- a quiz
- a student worksheet
- assessment ideas
- an exit ticket.
There is an assessment at the end of every half-term to check understanding and for the teacher to address and gaps in knowledge and understanding.
Lesson 8.1.1
Objectives:
- Understand different job roles and sectors.
- Introduction to various sectors like healthcare, business, and engineering.
- Discuss typical job roles in each. Knowledge of major sectors and typical roles within these sectors.
Lesson 8.1.2
Objectives:
- Explore how personal interests link to careers.
- Pupils complete assessments to identify their strengths and interests. Discussion on how these can align with different careers.
- Understanding of how personal interests and strengths can guide career choices.
Lesson 8.1.3
Objectives:
- Learn about the qualifications needed for different careers.
- Overview of the educational pathways required for various professions. Discuss apprenticeships, college courses, and university degrees.

Objectives:
- Identify the skills employers look for.
- Discussion on soft skills (like teamwork, communication) and hard skills (specific to job roles) required in the workplace.
