We have some thrilling news to share with our community! AnnaMarie Ellis, our Assistant Headteacher for Behaviour and Welfare, has collaborated with Warrington Wolves to run a fantastic series of Primary rugby sessions which started on Thursday 24th April and will last for a further three weeks. This initiative promises not only to enhance our students' physical activity but also to instil a sense of teamwork and sportsmanship among our young learners.
For those who may not be familiar, the Warrington School Sport Partnership works tirelessly to promote physical activity and rugby league within schools across Warrington. Their approach is all about making rugby accessible and enjoyable for everyone, ensuring that children are introduced to the sport in a nurturing environment. The sessions are crafted to develop rugby skills while encouraging confidence and camaraderie amongst participants.
This session was made possible thanks to our WASSP representative, Sam York, who is the Community Rugby League Coach for the Warrington Wolves Foundation. AnnaMarie commented on the energy and enthusiasm observed during those sessions, which truly encapsulate the spirit of rugby and the joy of learning new skills in a supportive environment.
Participation in the programme provides an excellent pathway for children to not only develop their rugby skills but also to build lasting friendships and teamwork capabilities. With a focus on inclusivity, this programme reaches thousands of young people annually, ensuring that every school in Warrington has access to professional rugby coaching. This means that children of all abilities and backgrounds have the chance to engage with the sport, fostering a culture of inclusion and encouragement.
Warrington Wolves, as a leading local sports club, firmly supports this initiative. Their involvement strengthens the ties between our schools and the local rugby community, paving the way for a new generation of rugby enthusiasts. The benefits of such partnerships extend beyond the physical realm; they enhance students’ social skills, resilience, and mental well-being—all vital attributes for navigating both the sporting world and life in general.
So, mark your calendars for the beginning of this exciting journey into the world of rugby! We look forward to seeing our children thrive, not just on the pitch but in every aspect of their youthful adventures. With an initiative like this, who knows, we might just be nurturing the next stars of Warrington rugby!
