A Warm Welcome to the Woolston Wildcats PTA
By AnnaMarie Ellis and Mark Cullen
As the curtains rise on another academic year, the Woolston Wildcats Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is delighted to extend a warm welcome to all parents and carers wishing to become part of our vibrant school community at Woolston Brook School. While we understand that everyone is busy with their day-to-day responsibilities, we believe that a few moments spent reading about our PTA may spark your interest in joining us.
Our group, the Woolston Wildcats PTA, is newly formed and brimming with potential. At its core, the PTA is designed to bolster the school's capabilities and to enrich the educational landscape for our students. We act as a bridge, bringing together families and faculty members in support of our shared goal: to create memorable and transformative learning experiences for the children in our care.
The primary function of the Woolston Wildcats PTA is to organise fundraising efforts aimed at enhancing, enriching, and improving the educational experience for all students. The necessity of financial support cannot be overstated; it is through fundraising that we can provide the wonderful extras that make school life memorable. From a glamorous red-carpet event for our Year 11 leavers to exciting residential adventure weeks and engaging experience days, the benefits of your participation cannot be overstated. Moreover, we also hold free community events to express our gratitude for your support and involvement.
Central to our vision, the Woolston Wildcats PTA is committed to fostering a stronger sense of community between school and home. We firmly believe that parental involvement is integral to a child's educational journey. By aligning ourselves with the desires and expectations of our families, we create an environment where students can thrive.
We understand that amongst all the numerous commitments you juggle, finding time to volunteer may seem overwhelming. However, we invite you to join us not only for the sake of the children but also for the chance to meet new people and simply have fun! The PTA is run by a team of dedicated volunteers who are your fellow parents, carers, friends and allies, all working towards a shared mission.

Keeping you informed of our activities is a top priority. We utilise several methods to ensure that you stay updated:
-
Newsletter: Our newsletter, published once a term, highlights key events, achievements, and upcoming activities within the PTA.
-
Online Communication Tools: Find us on our Facebook and X accounts, where we will share upcoming meetings, event reminders, and requests for volunteers.
-
Noticeboard: Located in the foyer, our PTA noticeboard is updated at least bi-weekly with the latest news and opportunities for involvement.

As we look ahead, our immediate fundraising efforts are focused on financing next year’s camps at Petty Pool and Rhos Colyn. These camps provide invaluable opportunities for students to build friendships, step outside their comfort zones, and engage in exhilarating activities. The experiences gained from these trips promote personal growth and aids in cultivating a sense of adventure in our young learners.
We would love for you to join us at our upcoming meetings, where everyone is more than welcome to contribute their thoughts and suggestions. Our next gathering is specifically aimed at planning our summer car boot sale and summer fête:
- Date: 6th May 2025
- Time: 11 am
- Location: Woolston Brook School
Please don’t hesitate to ring the school office should you wish to express your interest. Our Assistant Headteacher, Annamarie Ellis, will be more than happy to schedule a call back so that we can discuss opportunities for your involvement further. With more hands on deck, we can achieve greater outcomes and make our initiatives more effective.
If you have younger children at home or find that your available time is limited, worry not. There are numerous ways in which you can contribute without having to be present in school; many tasks can be managed from home. Could you lend a hand in setting up an event, helping with food service, or even crafting a flyer? Perhaps you possess a professional skill that could be useful for us? Every contribution, no matter how small, adds tremendous value.
We are always eager to hear from you. Annamarie Ellis is your go-to contact for all new parents seeking further information about the PTA and what we have planned. You can also reach us via email at AHTQAS@woolstonbrook.warrington.sch.uk.
