Comic Reliefcomic relief headline

By Mark Cullen 21/3/25

This year marks an extraordinary milestone as Comic Relief celebrates its 40th birthday, with festivities scheduled to take place on Friday, 21st March. Founded back in 1985 by the dynamic duo of Richard Curtis and Sir Lenny Henry, Comic Relief has not only brought laughter to our screens but also raised an astonishing £1.6 billion to aid those in need. The charity has made a significant impact, supporting over 100 million people across the globe. Quite the achievement, wouldn’t you agree?

At Woolston Brook School, we feel a deep sense of pride in participating in this remarkable charity event. To help commemorate such a momentous occasion, some of our dedicated staff members have decided to delve into a bit of nostalgia by dressing up in the style of 1985!

Cath Fowler, our headteacher, is buzzing with enthusiasm about the plans. She shared, 'In the spirit of generosity, we will repeat the staff fancy dress competition prize giveaway. It’s an excellent opportunity not just for a bit of fun but to raise much-needed funds for those who rely on Comic Relief's support.' The top prize will be judged by Cath herself, alongside Jane, our deputy headteacher. It’s bound to make for an entertaining judging process, especially with the wide range of creative costumes that we're sure will grace our school!
