As we approach National Drowning Prevention Week, which takes place from the 14th to the 21st of June, our school is excited to announce our participation in a series of activities designed to promote water safety and encourage our pupils to develop their swimming skills. Swimming is not only an essential life skill but also a fun and invigorating activity that can lead to a lifelong love of fitness and well-being.

In line with this initiative, our primary children will be attending school swimming sessions throughout the week. We kindly remind parents to ensure that their children come prepared for swimming with their swimming attire, but with a twist—students are encouraged to bring along their pyjamas and t-shirts for this unique swimming experience!

Additionally, in a bid to enhance the festive atmosphere surrounding National Drowning Prevention Week, we are delighted to inform you about a wonderful initiative led by AnnaMarie Ellis, our Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for Behaviour and Welfare, as well as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL). AnnaMarie is running a colouring competition open to all pupils, which encourages creativity while also raising awareness about water safety.

Students wishing to participate can download the competition picture as a PDF document via this link. Please ensure that the PDF is printed at home, as this will provide the perfect canvas for your child’s artistic expression. The deadline for entries is Friday, 27th June 2025, so be sure to get your little ones involved in this engaging contest. For pupils who are swimming with us, we kindly ask that they also bring their completed entries to their swimming session. Each submission must have the child's name, surname initial where applicable, class, and school clearly written on the back. Entries will should be passed on to AnnaMarie.

Excitingly, winning entries will receive a free family swim pass, which not only rewards their efforts but also encourages continued engagement with swimming activities outside of school. Winners will be announced in the week commencing Monday, 7th July, so make sure to keep an eye out for the exciting results!

If you have any questions or need further information, please do not hesitate to contact AnnaMarie Ellis. We appreciate your support as we aim to foster a safe and enjoyable swimming environment for all our pupils this June. Let’s make a splash and promote water safety together!
