On Tuesday 16th June, our Year 11 students enjoyed a very special Leavers’ Celebration as they marked the end of their journey at Woolston Brook School.
The group set off from school at 1.30pm and travelled by tram into Manchester, arriving at St Peter’s Square after making their way from Salford. The afternoon began with a visit for a well-deserved “posh coffee” before the students enjoyed a stroll around some of Manchester’s most iconic locations, including St Ann’s Square and Spinningfields.
Next, the group headed to The Alchemist, where everyone enjoyed a delicious mocktail and had the opportunity to relax and spend time together reflecting on their years at Woolston Brook.
Dinner was chosen by the students themselves, with Pieminister proving to be the clear favourite! Everyone enjoyed a hearty meal followed by dessert, providing the perfect fuel for the evening’s main event.
The highlight of the trip was a visit to Manchester Opera House to watch the award-winning musical Something Rotten!, starring Jason Manford, Richard Fleeshman and Marisha Wallace. The hilarious Shakespeare-inspired comedy had both students and staff laughing throughout the performance and was a fantastic way to celebrate the end of Year 11.
The evening was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. There were plenty of smiles, lots of laughter and some wonderful memories made together. The only downside was the late finish, with staff and students arriving home just before midnight – resulting in a few sleepy heads in school the following day!
We are incredibly proud of our Year 11 students and all they have achieved during their time at Woolston Brook School. We wish them every success and happiness for the future and thank them for being such an important part of our school community.
Good luck, Year 11 – we will miss you all!
