We had a fantastic time celebrating World Book Day 2026, with a range of exciting activities that brought reading to life.

Pupils and staff came to school dressed as their favourite book characters, and it was great to see so many creative costumes from well-known stories. Outfits ranged from Minions to Harry Potter, and even Jeremy Clarkson!

We also ran a home–school ‘Extreme Reading’ competition, where pupils took photos of themselves reading in unusual or imaginative places. We received some brilliant entries, and it was lovely to see pupils enjoying books in so many different settings.

In the primary department, each class based their learning around a chosen book for the day. Pupils explored their stories through a variety of activities, including reading, discussion and creative work linked to the text. Activities included potion making, making delicious smoothies and exploring liquids.

In secondary, all pupils took part in an English lesson linked to World Book Day, with activities centred around reading and books. Pupils across the school also took part in a ‘Guess the Book’ emoji quiz, which challenged them to work out well-known book titles using emoji clues.

It was a wonderful celebration of books and reading across the whole school, and it was fantastic to see so many pupils getting involved!
