Schools across Warrington are being encouraged to work more closely with families through WarrPAC, the designated Parent and Carer Forum for the area, funded by the Department for Education. Run by volunteer parents and carers of children and young people with SEND, WarrPAC offers a valuable bridge between home and school, helping to build stronger relationships and better outcomes for pupils.
For schools, the benefits of working with WarrPAC are clear. By engaging with parents and carers in a meaningful way, schools can strengthen trust, improve communication and develop a deeper understanding of the lived experiences of SEND families. This kind of partnership working supports a culture of participation and co-production, where families are not only listened to but actively involved in shaping support and services. In the long term, this can contribute to better SEND provision across the local area.
WarrPAC offers a range of opportunities to help schools connect with families in relaxed and welcoming ways. Coffee mornings provide an informal setting where parents can meet staff, find out more about available services and ask questions without pressure. Market stalls and events can be used during open evenings, fairs or other school occasions to share information and encourage friendly drop-in conversations.T

he forum also supports parent voice feedback, helping schools gather lived experiences that can inform improvement and development. SEND listening visits offer a valuable chance to collect honest feedback in a thoughtful and constructive way, supporting school SEND development and giving families the opportunity to share what is working well and where further support may be needed.
WarrPAC also hosts an annual conference, bringing professionals together with families to exchange ideas, share good practice and celebrate positive steps forward. It is another important reminder that when schools and families work together, children and young people benefit.
A SEND-friendly Warrington is built on partnership, understanding and shared commitment. WarrPAC is inviting schools to join in that work and help create stronger connections for the families who need it most.
