In March 2026, AnnaMarie Ellis (Assistant Headteacher) organised two engaging STEM activities that inspired our primary students. The first event featured a delightful visit from a parent, who brought along their pet ferret, Francis. This visit was part of our Key Stage 2 personal development and careers work, focusing on animal care. Students were fascinated to learn that Francis enjoys a diet of mince for snacks and requires an impressive 20 hours of sleep each day! His playful nature was evident as he interacted with his favourite toys, including slippers, a tunnel, feathers, and socks. As a hob ferret with polcat colours, Francis certainly captured the hearts of our students.
The second activity was a thrilling STEM challenge where students worked collaboratively to build the tallest tower using raw spaghetti and marshmallows. This hands-on experience not only fostered teamwork and creativity but also encouraged problem-solving skills as students strategised to achieve their goals.
These activities highlight the importance of interactive learning and the joy of discovery, showcasing the incredible efforts of our staff and the enthusiasm of our students. We look forward to more enriching experiences that spark curiosity and a love for learning!
